El Rancho Grande Mexican Restaurant originally began in 1950 on Boulder between 6th and 7th and has been in its current location on Historic Route 66 since 1953.
Now, more than 60 years later, we are proud to say that a number of those early regulars are still our well-treasured friends, greeted by name and a smile.
From the historic neon sign that still adorns the entrance of our one and only location, to “Tulsa’s Best” cheese enchiladas and margaritas, we constantly strive to preserve the restaurant’s 60-year history.
Stop in for one of these house specialties:
– Night Hawk: Named one of the Five Greatest Mexican Meals in the U.S. in Gustavo Arellano’s book, “Taco USA.” It consist of two cheese & onion enchiladas covered with chili con carne and cheddar. And one soft cheddar cheese taco topped with queso, $10.99.
– Chili Colorado: Fresh lean tender pork loin, browned and simmered with jalapenos, onion, garlic, ripe tomatoes and fresh seasonings. Served with rice and beans, $9.99.
– Camarones al Mojo de Ajo: Jumbo shrimp sauteed in garlic and butter over rice. Served with fresh guacamole and pico de gallo, $13.99.
Generations of Tulsans keep coming back for great Tex-Mex. Let our experienced servers treat you to a taste of our time-tested recipes and you’ll discover why we’ve been a local favorite since 1953.
Looking forward to my next trip to Tulsa and El Rancho Grande!
Jen Grove Whitten,
People are obsessed with the neon sign (for good reason!) but I also think the one on the side of the building (by the parking lot) is nifty!
We love to try new places to eat just for fun. Part of what we enjoyed about this restaurant is that it is one of the oldest establishments in Tulsa operating in its original location on historic Route 66. The chips and salsa were tasty- we found the salsa hot but couldn't stop eating it!!! My husband had the chicken burrito and I had the fish tacos. We both enjoyed our meals.
My family has been coming to El Rancho since the day it opened and we'll keep coming for generations to come. #LoveElRancho
First of all, what excellent service!! Every time I have been in here the servers are totally accommodating and helpful. The managers are always present, and you can tell that they are invested in the success of their restaurant. Secondly, queso. I mean, queso is always amazing...
